When you think of Dominican Republic think of mountains and forest, with excellent beaches and resorts, including Puerto Plata, La Romana and Santo Domingo , the capital, oldest city in the New World , is the historical capital and revels in restored treasures of its Spanish imperial days. This mountainous, beach-fringed country occupies the eastern two-thirds of Hispaniola , second-largest of the Caribees.
